Maggie Henderson

MA (Hons) Archaeology

Director: Historic Buildings

I am responsible primarily for projects involving historic buildings. I am a historic buildings archaeologist, with over 25 years’ experience in the field, starting out in Scotland before moving south at the turn of the 21st Century. For the past 20 years my work has focussed in the South East, with a particular emphasis on timber-framed buildings.

My work comprises the fabric-based analysis of buildings and structures culminating in the production of detailed illustrated assessments and reports.

I have extensive experience in all of the services outlined on this site, ranging from rapid assessments to ascertain the origin, form, function and evolution of a structure, intended to draw out its special character and significance and inform alterations and future management, to the production of full historic building records prior to and during development.

Other less typical projects include providing evidence in enforcement cases and informing the reconstruction of heritage assets that have suffered substantial loss over time through damage or disuse.
